Duke Energy Carolinas Pending
About +$9/month on a typical bill. Duke Energy Carolinas filed Nov. 20, 2025 for about $1 billion more over two years (about 15% over current base rates, 18% for residential), which would have added $17.22 per month in 2027 and $6.34 in 2028 for a 1,000 kWh customer, to pay for grid, generation and storm investments. A July 2026 settlement with the Public Staff (9.8% ROE, $25.7 billion rate base, $3.8 billion multi-year plan) cuts that to $9.39 per month ($156.81 to $166.20, about 6%) on Jan. 1, 2027 and $5.52 more on Jan. 1, 2028. The NCUC held hearings in July 2026; a final order was expected by about Sept. 20, 2026 but had not been confirmed as of this research.
Duke Energy Progress Pending
About +$10/month on a typical bill. Duke Energy Progress filed Nov. 20, 2025 for about a 15% revenue increase over two years (18.1% for residential, about $23.11 per month for 1,000 kWh in the first step) for grid, generation and storm costs. An Aug. 5, 2026 settlement with the Public Staff for $338 million would raise residential rates about 4.7% in 2027 and 4.6% in 2028 (9.3% total, after Duke corrected an earlier 6.8% figure), about $9.61 per month for a 1,000 kWh customer from Jan. 1, 2027; the Attorney General declined to sign. The NCUC was still reviewing the settlement after August 2026 hearings.
