Rate cases in Florida

Duke Energy Florida Approved
About +$-45/month on a typical bill. Duke Energy Florida's base rates are set by its 2024 multiyear settlement through 2027, so 2026 bill changes came through the PSC's annual clause filings approved Nov. 4, 2025. Bills for a 1,000 kWh residential customer rose temporarily by $7.54 in January-February 2026 versus December 2025, then fell about $44 per month (roughly 25%) in March 2026 when the storm cost recovery charge for hurricanes Debby, Helene and Milton ended and lower fuel costs flowed through.
TECO (Tampa Electric) Approved
About +$6/month on a typical bill. On November 5, 2025 the Florida PSC approved Tampa Electric's 2026 rate changes (year-two base rate step from docket 20240026-EI plus annual fuel, capacity and conservation clause updates), adding about $5.50/month for a typical household from January 2026; storm-recovery surcharges continue through summer 2026 with a possible reduction in September 2026. Filing date approximate (annual clause filings are made in late summer).
FPL (Florida Power & Light) Approved
About +$3/month on a typical bill. FPL asked for $1.545 billion in new base revenue for 2026 plus $927 million more in 2027 (about $9.8 billion over four years per the Office of Public Counsel). On Nov. 20, 2025 the PSC approved a four-year settlement with $945 million in 2026 and $705 million in 2027 plus later solar/battery adders; the 1,000 kWh bill in most of FPL's territory rises from $134.14 to $136.64 (+$2.50, about 2%) on Jan. 1, 2026 with further increases in 2027-2029, while Northwest Florida bills dip to $141.36 in 2026.
TECO (Tampa Electric) Approved
About +$10/month on a typical bill. The Florida PSC (vote December 2024, final order PSC-2025-0038-FOF-EI issued February 3, 2025) approved base rate increases of $185.9 million for 2025, $86.6 million for 2026 and $9.1 million for 2027. A 1,000 kWh residential bill rose from $136.44 to $145.58 ($9.14) in January 2025. Money is for solar, grid resiliency, Polk plant upgrades and storm hardening.
